Dear Council, it’s my pleasure to announce that release 3.4.0 is now online. Along with the Guidelines we released the Stylesheets (7.45.0), Roma (5.0.0) and OxGarage (1.0.0). Freeze no more, let’s head for the beach :) Best Peter

OxGarage Makefile outdated

I just realised that the Jenkins build job for OxGarage is not building the correct war-packages since the Makefile (which is used by Jenkins) has gotten out of sync with the Dockerfile (which provides the newer build information). Since we are providing a working OxGarage image at DockerHub (https://hub.docker.com/r/teic/oxgarage/) and since it is linked to the GitHub and updates automatically after every change to the repo, I see no necessity for Jenkins to also build the war-files. While updating the Makefile would be easy, I’m reluctant to maintain *two* build scripts. Hence my proposal to remove the OxGarage build job from our Jenkins and to remove the Makefile from the repo to avoid confusion. Along with the Docker image I propose to provide the war-files (extracted from the Docker image) via the GitHub releases. Comments? Best Peter

Reminder: we're creating the release branch tomorrow

Dear TEI Council, Tomorrow Peter will create a release branch, likely sometime in the morning (CEST) July 19th. Please complete any work you want to be included in the release before July 19th at 9am CEST. Later tomorrow, we'll send release notes for all to review. We will only have a few days to fix any problems before Peter and I convene on Monday and go through the release steps. If you are available on Monday please make sure to monitor the TEI Slack and the TEI-Council mailing list in case we need to be rescued :) All best! Raff

So, please do not merge anything into these branches except you have permission by the release technicians or the chair. Updates to the release notes are an exception to this rule ;) Best Peter

I have done ticket 1768, but would like someone else to check it out (it is in branch 'sydb-nuke_macro.schemaPattern') and build it locally to make sure nothing fails miserably. Then, if it doesn't fail, 1) the changes in that branch need to be folded into dev (either someone other than me, or someone should send me instructions -- I am not confident enough in my git skills) 2) the French and Japanese <remarks> for the <content> element need to be updated (probably won't happen for this release) 3) the release notes need to be updated: "Vestigal references to macro.schemaPattern in the schemas, exemplars, and English prose have been removed" or some such. Thanks to whomever can test this.
