Dear Council, Still with my release-manager hat on (!), Syd and Helena have noticed that a folder has been missing from recent releases of TEI. This is going to need another point release to fix. Fortunately, term doesn’t start again here for another two weeks, so I’ve actually got plenty of time to work on this in the coming days. Would some time on Monday or Wednesday suit people, for example? Syd, if you have time, perhaps we could hack away at a fix on Monday and then do the .3 release on Wednesday? We should probably also write a test to catch this kind of thing... Best wishes, Nicholas
My availability (as it currently stands) is sketched out, below. But does this require a release, or just a symlink fix on the server? I am hoping Peter, Hugh, Martina, or Martin can chime in, here. (At the moment I do not even have access to the server to look into this.) * Mon 12 Apr: Meetings from 13:30Z to ~15:45Z, and again from 17:30Z to 18:54Z. (And then again from 23:00Z for an hour or two, but that’s too late, anyway.) * Wed 14 Apr: Only meeting is 16:15Z to 17:00Z. (Go on duty, and thus become unlreliable, at 21:00Z.) ________________________________ Still with my release-manager hat on (!), Syd and Helena have noticed that a folder has been missing from recent releases of TEI. If I remember correctly, Peter and/or Hugh have created new symlinks on the server at release time a few times recently; it seems that either something changed when the server migration to HumaNum was done, or there has always been a requirement to create a number of symlinks, and this never made it into TCW22 or the release scripts for some reason. I think the most important thing is first to list the full set of missing items or links; then for someone to quick-fix those for 4.2.2 (without doing a new release, assuming the stuff is actually there and just in the wrong place); and finally for the release scripts on tei-c to be updated so that they're created at release time. Unless I'm missing something, I don't believe we need another release; and even if we did, we'd have to fix the problems in 4.2.2 anyway, since it's out there. If this is the correct diagnosis, this is presumably something that we need to hack into the install script. Best wishes, N.

I logged in (as the TEI user) and added the symlink a few minutes ago, so
that should be working ok now (I've checked some of the links Helena posted
and they function). I'm at a loss as to why the install script doesn't take
care of this if it's a requirement though. We never used to have to do it.
I wonder whether there was a web server redirect set up for it on the old
server, and we failed to re-implement that on the new one...

Well, before you do that, maybe we should ask ourselves if we want a at kink or a redirect. Or whether, as I think Peter was arguing, we should consider refactoring the directory structure.

Ok, the current issues with missing files under https://www.tei-c.org/release/xml/tei/stylesheet/ is all about missing symlinks on the TEI server. I tried to explain that at last Council meeting and promised to fix it but didn’t get to it yet. Will do it now as proposed in my email from March 1. The release notes are ok and do not need modification because all the artefacts are put into the Vault. The stuff under „release“ is just a link to these files in the vault. And there is no need for a symlink *within* the Vault (from P5 to Stylesheets) – that’s always been a hack during (after) the last releases on the Huma-Num server. Best Peter

>>> >>> Best >>> Peter >>> >>>> Am 11.04.2021 um 22:52 schrieb Hugh Cayless mailto:philomousos@gmail.com>: >>>> >>>> Well, before you do that, maybe we should ask ourselves if we want a at kink or a redirect. It's certainly not good for it to stop working! While you're there, has the ability to do shortcuts like <elementRef key="q" source="tei:3.0.0"/> also gone AWOL? On 12/04/2021 16:57, Martin Holmes wrote:
It worked on recent releases:
https://tei-c.org/Vault/P5/3.6.0/xml/tei/stylesheet/
so it's probably not good for it to stop working. But if you go back to earlier versions, it doesn't work either.

While, for example, https://tei-c.org/release/xml/tei/stylesheet/ https://tei-c.org/release/xml/tei/stylesheet/ works, https://tei-c.org/Vault/P5/4.2.2/xml/tei/stylesheet/ https://tei-c.org/Vault/P5/4.2.2/xml/tei/stylesheet/ does not. Is that a problem?
