Hi all, Janelle and I came across a bad problem with releases starting at 4.0.0, which means that valLists for the @type attribute in 21 elements are missing from both the Guidelines pages and the schemas. There's a bug here: https://github.com/TEIC/TEI/issues/2128 and a PR with a full fix here: https://github.com/TEIC/TEI/pull/2129 Both Syd and I think this is bad enough to warrant an interim release. Could anyone with a free moment take a look at the bug and the PR, and review or comment? Also, could you weigh in on whether you agree that it deserves a quick release? Cheers, Martin -- ------------------------------------- Humanities Computing and Media Centre University of Victoria mholmes@uvic.ca
Happy to manage the release if you’d like. I don’t have a vote, but this seems .2 worthy to me. Sent from my iPhone

We could use an interim release to figure out how/why the stylesheets documentation didn't get released the last couple of times, and update TCW 22 accordingly. And Hugh and I could also get this done: https://github.com/TEIC/TEI/issues/2116 Cheers, Martin On 2021-03-28 6:24 a.m., Nicholas Cole wrote:

Dear all,
I would like to come back to the discussion on how we should proceed with the bug in recent releases revealed by Janelle and Martin last Friday (see https://github.com/TEIC/TEI/issues/2128 - overridden vallist). The bug has been fixed with this PR https://github.com/TEIC/TEI/pull/2129 by adding mode="add" to the affected vallists.
Martin and Syd proposed to do an interim release and I also think that we should do this as soon as possible. Are there any objections?
Nicholas kindly offered to do another release. Nicholas, when would you have time to do the release and who could help Nicholas? Is there anything else that is urgent and should get into that release?
In the last Stylesheets meeting we figured out that the Stylesheets documentation didn't get released in the Vault for release 4.1.0 and 4.2.1. This could be made up for in the course of the release. The documentation in TCW22 seems to be fine, apparently the step was simply overlooked.
Another open issue is the Oxygen release documentation, which could also get done in the course of the release, see https://github.com/TEIC/TEI/issues/2116.
Best,
Martina

Hi all, my 2c regarding a) another point release: I don’t consider the schemas nor the Guidelines badly broken so don’t feel the pressure myself but won’t stand in the way ;) b) the Stylesheets documentation: I haven’t been at the Stylesheets meeting (and couldn’t find anything in the minutes) but I assume it’s about the 404 at https://tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-xsl/? Since the Stylesheets documentation is properly residing in the Vault at https://tei-c.org/Vault/Stylesheets/7.51.1/doc/tei-xsl/ I think it’s merely the missing symlinks I complained about in my email "TEI release directory structure“ from March 1st. If someone could take another look and tell me „ok, go!“ then I'll dare to change those links and hopefully fix the release directory structure for the future. All best Peter

a) another point release: While I do not share Martin’s near panic, I do think the schemas and the Guidelines are broken enough that a point release as soon as reasonable is in order. And big thanks to Nick for be willing to do it. I am not likely to be of much help until Sat 03 Apr, though. b) missing symlinks: I can try to take a look tomorrow afternoon (my time), but if anyone gets there earlier, all the better. ________________________________ my 2c regarding a) another point release: I don’t consider the schemas nor the Guidelines badly broken so don’t feel the pressure myself but won’t stand in the way ;) b) the Stylesheets documentation: I haven’t been at the Stylesheets meeting (and couldn’t find anything in the minutes) but I assume it’s about the 404 at https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftei-c.org%... I would say, yes, fix the symlinks. I don't think that requires a new
release.
I'm not opposed to a point release, though I don't think it's super urgent.
I'm on vacation this week and actually away from my house(!) but will be
back this weekend and in a position to help out as needed. I don't have a
good read on what other stuff has gone in to the GLs since the last
release. Will we want to be careful about where we make the release branch
from?

It’s a good point. If we do want a new release we should cherry pick just the fixes that that are essential. So I’m minded at this point to say that if council do want to do it, we should do it after the weekend at this point.
If a consensus emerges to do a release, I’ll make the new branch, and cherry-pick fixes into it, but I’ll wait until there is consensus!
