Hello All, Our next meeting will be at 09:00 EDT / 14:00 BST / 15:00 CEST. I’ve posted the beginnings of an agenda here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1o6Mhb4LrCvzkq0I9IDpyTdTERl4lqtvarid9RHxm... We’ll plan to do it as a Google Hangout, with Elli initiating, as she has an account through Brown, and so can bypass the 10-person limit on the call. See you then! Hugh
I am dependent on my mobile for connectivity here in la France profonde so may only be able to join briefly if at all. I'll try to post some thoughts on simple before the meeting though. Just a reminder of my apologies. It is unlikely I'll make it. I was wondering, with Magdalena, on a late train back from London the other week whether we should be having a special meeting about Stylesheets (et alia) maintenance. I remember us discussing this at the face to face (are the minutes public yet?) but not what the action was. In addition we could also try to do a hackathon type thing at some conference with council and select others invited who want to build TEI software to get them to help maintain and update the existing software and teach us all to be less afraid of fixing the stylesheets. Might the board be willing to contribute financially to such an endeavour? Oh, I have to make excuses too, I won't be able to make it for personal
reasons.
I would be happy to have special Stylesheets telco at some point later
(even next week), though Thursdays definitely stopped working for me.
The hackathon type thing or unconference I think would be great to try. I
don't suppose 1-day events are productive long-term, but might help getting
people together and testing the waters before something longer. I was
thinking 3-4 days for the hack-camp proper. It would be great if we could
have funding from Board but perhaps it's also good to look for
contributions elsewhere. Any ideas here very welcome.
Best,
Magdalena

Hi everyone-- As I recall (and what I found particularly interesting and
compelling), we'd planned just some special Council meetings over chat to
orient everyone to the frabjous wonders of the stylesheets. I'm excited
about the prospect of such a meeting or meetings since I need the
orientation, and I just want to say I hope we don't postpone this into the
indefinite future of a multi-day hackathon or conference venue, but try to
organize something we can do in a few hours at a time in telco. I hope
that's what we were planning!

Yes, that's a separate issue though, Elisa. It is on me to set those up, and (interesting timing) I just said to Elli about 2 hours ago that I need to get on that! I will try to have that up tonight, although I also want to put time in to the pesky testbasic.xml failure.

I had meant to have them done by now, but other stuff keeps getting in the way. I hope before the telecon... The TEI-in-the-browser Javascripty thing Raff and I built is alive, and powering a GitHub-based view of our release documentation: http://teic.github.io/TCW/tcw22.html. This is pulling the live XML copy out of the dev branch, so you can edit the source file and then see the results immediately (maybe with a little latency in some browsers: I’m trying to work out whether there’s a caching issue). I think this demonstrates that we can keep our docs in GitHub and have them display properly pretty much wherever we want. Still plenty of work to be done on it, but I’m quite pleased so far. Obviously, you need to be running Javascript for it to work. Let’s talk about what’s needed as far as Stylesheets education on Thursday. How many of us are going to be at DH in Krakow? Maybe we could carve out an hour or two for intro Stylesheets hacking there… Hugh

Cute. It kinda bothers me that when I view source on a page I don't get either the HTML or the XML. Is there a way that might happen? (I know there are ways I can inspect the generated content, but that isn't really what I mean...)

I'll be in Kraków too, from July 8-18, and staying really close to the conference venue now that I've finally booked everything! Now, as to whether I'll be much use in a hackathon, I'll look forward to an orientation ahead of time... Elisa Typeset by hand on my iPad

Well, we could include a link to it :-). The answer is, no, view source will always get you the HTML wrapper rather than the XML it loads. But the link to the XML is in there. Sent from my phone.
