I know most of you have just returned from mittel europa, and hence may be bored by the topic, but I am now starting to get myself organized for the MM in Vienna. So, am I right in thinking that everything will be over by Friday evening, so I should be looking to book my return on sat 1 oct ? And that the Council will meet from Sunday morning 25 Sept on, so I need to arrive by early evening of Sat 24? If so, my only anxiety is : where are we all staying?
I haven’t booked yet. Pickings look slim and extremely expensive. Perhaps some of us may want to consider going in together on an AirBnB or similar...

I am finding some places near the conference venue for about $50-$60/night
3 bedrooms, whole apartment. But they are going fast. I guess one question
to the organizers is if they have hotel deals somewhere. --elli

Yes, Airbnb seems to be offering reasonable prices. But maybe our gallant chair should ask the organisers for recommendations before we all start booking ?

Has anyone done the legwork on the hotel pricing? it seems one has to check each one. Also, is the plan to meet starting Sunday morning? That means the Americans are doing Saturday arrival, Saturday departure? just to confirm I could book an airbnb for 3 and we can figure out who'll be in it. They don't seem to have separate bedrooms for 4 - also good to check if the 3rd bedroom is actually the living room. Then someone else would book another one - that's 6 of us. But probably not until Monday night - way too much to do, Epidoc release and also my elderly car was given a sentence of death by the inspection people (or a very expensive rehab), and we are looking for a new one... thanks, --elli [Elli Mylonas Senior Digital Humanities Librarian and Center for Digital Scholarship University Library Brown University library.brown.edu/cds] On Sun, Jul 24, 2016 at 4:39 PM, Raffaele Viglianti < raffaeleviglianti@gmail.com> wrote:

Any update on this? Prices and distance from venue would be nice information to have. If we're starting our meeting Sun morning 09-25 then I, for one, will probably want a Fri 09-23 departure from USA.

Elli and I did a lot of research on AirBNB and have happily booked a spot or a really good deal pretty close to the venue--splitting costs each of us around 500ish for the week. We saved a wish list in the AirBNB app, but it is for places with 2 or 3 bedrooms. I'd recommend taking a look in AirBNB focusing the map on the district around our venue, and plug in your parameters--we were thinking there are a number of good spots to be found for solo travelers. I am flying out of the US, leaving Thurs and arriving Friday morning, and will take the train to Graz to take in as much of the Digital Editions as Interfaces conference as I can, then take the train to Vienna on Saturday evening. For Graz I found a good deal on a hotel nearby the conference by looking up hotels in Travelocity. Hope that helps, even if it is just an app recommendation rather than a price list!
