Is there any chance some of the issues raised in https://github.com/TEIC/oxygen-tei/issues/8 might be addressed in this release? Specifically, removing TEI P4 and adding simplePrint to the framework!
Removing P4 is easy; it just needs a decision from Council. The main priority for the plugin surely is that the bugs which prevent RNG creation from ODDs are fixed. Is simplePrint the final name for Simple? Is it ready to go? Have all the Stylesheets profiles been rewritten to handle the processing model stuff? FWIW, according to my notes about removing support for P4, we were going to stop bundling P4 in the oxygen-tei package but then decided instead to label it as deprecated in the oxygen-tei package. Sebastian did this on 2012-10-14. On 12/6/16 10:51 AM, Martin Holmes wrote:

I thought when discussing this previously we decided that it had had long enough and we wouldn't want to encourage people starting any new TEI P4 documents. (Nothing to stop them doing so, but we shouldn't be promoting it.) In any case, if more vote is needed, I definitely vote to remove it from oxygen-tei framework. -James On 06/12/16 16:57, Kevin Hawkins wrote:

Re P4: ditto.
Re TEI Simple: *sigh*. There is a fundamental difference in perspective.
Martin Muller sees it the layman's entry point to TEI, the council - for
what I can tell - sees it as too specific for being the main entry to TEI.
There's no solving this conundrum and we've already talked it to death. I
guess we should brace for a rebuttal on TEI-L after the announcement.

I think all the bugs are fixed. P4 should probably be removed. Any
objections from the rest of Council?
Unless someone comes up with a name we all agree is staggeringly brilliant,
such that we want to go to the trouble of changing every occurrence of it,
within the next few hours, "simplePrint" is it. I don't see that happening
:-).
There is NOT a Stylesheets implementation of the Processing Model, and as I
understand it, there never was a complete XSLT implementation even in the
Simple repo (am I wrong?) such that we could put in the plugin. AFAIK the
eXistdb implementation is the only one. I don't know if any integration
with the oXygen plugin is possible or desirable there. The Stylesheets will
at least print documentation of PM elements in the ODD, but that's all you
get for now.
A proper implementation in the Stylesheets would be nice to have, but I
think it will have to wait until the next release, at least.

Leaving aside Simple for the moment, as soon as there's a consensus on removing P4 from the Oxygen plugin, please set it to Status: Go and assign it to me. https://github.com/TEIC/oxygen-tei/issues/8 Cheers, Martin On 2016-12-06 06:35 AM, Lou Burnard wrote:

If anyone anyone council has an objection to P4 being removed from oxygen-tei then shout now. I'm going to assign this to martin and make its status go, since I can't see any downsides to this. (i.e. people who insist on using P4 still can, we just aren't encouraging them to start new documents in it.) -James On 06/12/16 23:45, Martin Holmes wrote:

Well, I'm not going to shout, but for some reason I had it in my head that the plan was to demote P4 from "deprecated" in oXygen plug-in to not being there in Fall of 2017. (I.e., 5 years after it was deprecated.)

I don't have any memory of a 5-year deprecation period; it seems unprecedented. I really don't want to put it back in now. There's so much crap in there (that Minimal stuff is still there) that removing one template is a blessing. We're adding one at the same time (simplePrint, whose camel-casing doesn't fit with the rest of our exemplar names, incidentally). Cheers, Martin On 2016-12-09 07:58 AM, Syd Bauman wrote:
