Hi All, Given that we just had our face-to-face, I don't think there's any need for a telecon this month, unless anyone objects strongly? I've had no expressions of interest in taking over the Chair position, so also a gentle reminder about that... Hugh
I am honestly relieved not to have the call, Victoria was quite a marathon
and I haven't entirely recovered yet. Joking, it is a great place and it
was lovely to see you all :-)
As for the chair question and remembering that TEI council had no female
chair so far (I think)... Since it is a role that requires a certain level
of orderliness, punctuality and ability to keep discussions on track,
Martina strikes me as a perfect candidate. Or contrcandidate, since I think
Hugh is doing an amazing job there and I would be more than happy to leave
things as they are.
My personal opinion is that TEI is a complicated beast and we should value
the continuity, experience and wisdom brought to the council by people who
have been involved in it for longer time. I severely miss Lou or Martin on
the Council even if we tend to have opposing views from time to time and
what I miss the most is the broad perspective and critical overview of TEI
they possess.

If Martina’s willing to take this on, I agree that she’d certainly be reliable! But for the benefit of continuity and long perspective, if she’s willing, I’d nominate Elli! Hi all, I took some time to think about the chair question and I want to express my interest to stand for the chair position. I agree with Magda that Hugh is doing an amazing job, though, and I would be happy too if he is willing to continue.
