Fwd: Prague day of study (Feb. 8th)

Hi All, Here's what the local organizers of the Prague open day meeting (Feb. 8th, the day after we finish) are thinking of. Can you let me know how many of you are able to stay for this and what are you all interested in talking about? I'm sure they'd be open to other ideas too. Thanks, Hugh ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Marjorie Burghart <marjorie.burghart@ehess.fr> Date: Sun, Jan 8, 2017 at 2:48 PM Subject: Prague day of study (Feb. 8th) To: Hugh Cayless <philomousos@gmail.com> Dear Hugh, The local organisers of the Prague meeting asked me if I could discuss with you the participation of Council members (or other TEI reps if they happen to be there) in the public day organised on Feb. 8th. The idea is to have a mix of local and "international" speakers in each of the following sessions: 1. TEI for Long Term Preservation 2. Teaching (with) TEI 3. Critical Editions 4. Tools for TEI 5. Linguistic Annotation in TEI Each paper would be in the usual form of about 20 minutes + questions. Would you mind circulating the list of sessions to the council, and asking for volunteers to present? Best, Marjorie

Hi Hugh, I'll be staying through the whole conference, and I'd be happy to speak on a couple of repurposing projects I and my students have been involved with--I guess that might cover: 1) TEI for Long Term Preservation, and 2) Teaching (with) TEI I'm happy to adapt a presentation based on what others want to cover. But I'm happy to volunteer a presentation. Best, Elisa On Mon, Jan 9, 2017 at 9:01 PM, Hugh Cayless <philomousos@gmail.com> wrote:

PS: Also, thinking about this, I'm happy to speak on Critical Editions. Perhaps Raff and I might talk about our work on a Bicentennial project that updates a very early digital edition of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for 2018, to connect with the Shelley-Godwin archive? Raff, what do you think? Elisa On Mon, Jan 9, 2017 at 9:41 PM, Elisa Beshero-Bondar <ebb8@pitt.edu> wrote:

I am planning to stay through "TEI day" in Prague and the entire XML Prague conference. I had not planned on giving a talk, but could probably be talked into doing so if needed.

Hi, I will be staying for the entire XML Prague as well, so happy to contribute. I could happily speak about some tools for TEI, in particular eXistdb, TEI Processing Model/TEI Publisher, but also earlyPrint which is annotation module built on top of the TEI Publisher, now used for crowdsourced correction and annotation of linguistically annotated corpora. Obviously, all this would not fit in one 20min spot so I'd either select one subject, or occupy two spots or have an overview of eXistdb based options for TEI content publishing and management. On a similar note I was asked if we'd like to have some presentation during the XML Prague itself or it's pre-conference workshop day (Thursday). I'd see it as an opportunity to 'sell' TEI to XML developers as this is the expected audience at the conference. staying at least through Thursday, can participate as needed - most likely can show projects in order to talk about preservation, possibly talk about workflow in some context? could split an epidoc talk with Hugh unless he prefers to do the whole thing, although CeTEIcean may be a very good tools talk. Hugh's message suggested that they'd like to see Council members distributed among a series of panels, but I'm not sure I understand the format / venue. Thanks, Elisa, I was unclear. I was wondering how to plan things and if that planning should directly include local organizers from scratch or should we just submit proposal(s) for panels after we make our minds. If the latter, is there a CfP somewhere? 2017-01-10 16:37 GMT+00:00 Elisa Beshero-Bondar <ebb8@pitt.edu>:

Hi,
I will be staying for the entire XML Prague as well, so happy to contribute.
Best,
Magdalena

I’ll stay for the Wednesday and Thursday (and have to leave on Friday morning). I’m with Syd that I had not planned on giving a talk but could be talked into doing so if needed … but ask Syd first ;)

staying at least through Thursday, can participate as needed - most likely can show projects in order to talk about preservation, possibly talk about workflow in some context? could split an epidoc talk with Hugh unless he prefers to do the whole thing, although CeTEIcean may be a very good tools talk. It's catching on!
