Dear All, No-one has contacted me about running for chair, and I don’t believe anyone has expressed their willingness to run on-list either. Please correct me if I’m wrong! As I said in our last meeting, I’m willing to serve for another year, particularly if nobody else wants to do it, but I’d encourage you to think about it (for next year even if not this one). I may not even be on Council next year, as my term will be up at year’s end! It’s really not that bad a job, I promise :-). If anyone has questions about it, even if you’d rather wait until next year, do feel free to ask me or James (who was Chair before me) about it. Note that the deliberately vague guidelines for Chair Elections are posted here: http://wiki.tei-c.org/index.php/TEI-Council-FAQ#How_is_the_TEI_Technical_Cou... http://wiki.tei-c.org/index.php/TEI-Council-FAQ#How_is_the_TEI_Technical_Cou... —it’s one of those things I’ve never done before as Chair, and so have gotten it somewhat wrong, but I don’t want to sneak back into the position, so I’ll issue a last call for self-nominations now. My own reasons for wanting to continue are: 1) I think I sort of have it figured out now 2) My job at Duke will allow me to devote the time needed to it 3) I’d like to think things will be easier this year If anyone objects or wants to stand, then we’ll set up an election. All the best, and wishing you all a happy new year, Hugh
If someone else does wish to stand, I would encourage them to do so. Don't worry about upsetting Hugh (he is a big boy and we are all friends here). It is mainly an administrative position making sure we get work done. Hi Peter, I think we decided on the 1 year term because this would enable someone in the second year of their 2 year elected term to run to be chair. I'm more than happy to support Hugh as a candidate for chair, but also want to encourage others in case they think it is a fait accompli. I'd run myself but there is always the danger of people voting me back in and I really can't do so under new work regimes. -James On 07/01/16 10:54, Peter Stadler wrote:

I agree. It takes a year for a chair person to get into their stride. The good thing about having a one year term is that they can then stand down without loss of face if they have failed to get into their stride rather than struggle on. But our current chair has no need to do that, on the contrary I would certainly hope he does continue. On 07/01/16 10:54, Peter Stadler wrote:

I agree w/ Lou completely on this: a 1-year term is a good idea, and Hugh continuing is also a good idea. I have no problem w/ Hugh standing unopposed. I presume by now we've sort of settled on that, eh?

To repeat an earlier question : is it now time to merge the lb42-pure-odd2 branch into dev? And, if as i hope the answer is "yes", could someone please tell me how? or do it?
It would be nice to get the Stylesheets pureodd branch working properly so we could do both at the same time. Otherwise we'll have to suffer through test failure messages until it's done. I'm on planes all day, so I may be able to finish working on it while I'm bored in the air. Sent from my phone.

We might be verging on being able to do this now. The next hurdle seems to be that the epub build of the Guidelines is broken: references are lowercase, but filenames are mixed case. Does this ring any bells? I think we might now be in a position to merge, with the caveat that the GLs build may still be broken. Is anyone working on anything they’re on the verge of checking in? Can I go ahead and merge the Stylesheets and TEI repos?

I think we might now be in a position to merge, with the caveat that the GLs build may still be broken. Is anyone working on anything they’re on the verge of checking in? Can I go ahead and merge the Stylesheets and TEI repos?
Would be nice to fix the bug first, if it can be done reasonably soon....

Ok. I’ve merged Stylesheets/pureodd into Stylesheets/dev and TEI/lb42-pureodd-2 into TEI/dev and pushed both I anticipate some mayhem :-)

Think I’ve fixed it. We’ll have to wait a while for the builds to run on Ms. Victoria Jenkins to see if it’s worked. Or just revealed the next bug!

We might be verging on being able to do this now. The next hurdle seems to be that the epub build of the Guidelines is broken: references are lowercase, but filenames are mixed case. Does this ring any bells? The problem is that the values for @key attributes inside examples are being formatted as if they were pointers to TEI element specs, which they are not necessarily. I think I complained about that before. It's in the generated HTML, not just the epub.
See for example the sample schemaSpecs in ST.html#STIN

What could possibly go wrong? ... Oh, I see our old friend "conflicting ID-types for attribute "id"" is back... Too bad, it's bed time over here. On 08/01/16 23:53, Hugh Cayless wrote:
