Hi all, sorry for being so quiet since our F2F in Cologne. As most of you already know, I successully defended my dissertation and the thundercloud above my head has disappeared... I'm in contact with Susan and Kyionori about the F2F meeting in Tokyo. The TEI conference (Sun 9th - Thu 13th) takes place in conjunction with the JADH conference (Sun 9th - Tue 11th). The TEI workshops are on Sunday (full day) and Monday morning. Magda, you said that you want to do a workshop - do you plan full-day or half-day? Is anyone else planning a workshop? I think we could ask the program committee to schedule workshops from Council members according to our request. The Board meeting is planned for Monday morning (Hugh and I have to be there). I think our options - assuming that Kiyonori can arrange rooms accordingly - are: a) Thu 6th - Sat 8th b) Fri 7th - Sun 9th (in case nobody want's to do a full-day workshop and half-day workshops are scheduled for monday) c) Thu 13th afternoon - Sat 15th (but that would mean only 2,5 days - and no excursion) d) Fri 14th - Sun 16th e) to split our meeting (I'm not in favour) Please let me know your preferences concerning our meeting. The program committee (resp. Susan Schreibman) would be very pleased about numerous contributions from the Council. Who is planning to submit something? Should we think of doing a workshop / a panel together? Best wishes, Martina Martina Scholger Zentrum für Informationsmodellierung - Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities Elisabethstraße 59/III 8010 Graz Austria martina.scholger@uni-graz.atmailto:martina.scholger@uni-graz.at https://informationsmodellierung.uni-graz.at | https://gams.uni.graz.at Chair of the TEI Technical Council Institut für Dokumentologie und Editorik e.V. https://i-d-e.de
Congrats to you, Dr. (to be?) Scholger! I am not planning on any submissions, paper or workshop, but would be happy to join a group effort for either a panel or workshop. And if it seemed important, I could put together a paper or workshop, but it would be tight with the deadline being 04-09 (and American taxes due around the same time). I like (b) the best, but if someone does want to do a full-day workshop, or some sub-group of us decides to do a full-day workshop, then I think I may lean in with Hugh on this. You may be right, Martina, splitting our meeting before & after the conference may be awful. But we won't know until we try. So I'd vote for splitting. I don't see any information about excursions on the website, but presuming they are Thu 09-13 afternoon, then perhaps either e1) Fri 07 afternoon, Sat 08 all day + Fri 14 all day, Sat 15 morning if there are excursions of interest on Thu 13 afternoon; OR e2) Fri 07 afternoon, Sat 08 all day + Thu 13 afternoon, Fri 14 all day if we opt to miss the excursions. All that said, I don't care very much.

Hi Dr. Scholger and all— In the US, Labor Day is Sept. 3, and that means a university holiday on Monday of the week preceding. In order for our Face-to-Face begin on Thursday, we in the US would almost certainly have to leave on Tuesday that week, I think, and I suppose what we’d be dealing with is a week away at just that moment. I’m on sabbatical next fall so this barely affects me, but university operations are an issue nevertheless. I think for me, I’d prefer an earlier start, options a or b.
