Dear All, Some of us have been chatting about setting up a working group to get our Jenkins testing protocols properly sorted out and to make it easier to set up new TEI Jenkins environments. Is there anyone who's not in on the current discussion (Martin, James, Peter, Elisa, and Syd) who'd like to join in on such a thing? Hugh
Hi Hugh,
I am a curious case of a developer who is at rather pathetic level with all
sysadmin stuff (blame it on having sysadmin for a husband since forever). I
would not contribute any wisdom to such a workgroup but on the other hand
if you can get me to make it work, it could be your ultimate measure if it
is indeed easy to set up. I will leave the decision to you and won't be
offended if you'll be better off without me ;-)

As a general principle, I think that discussion of issues like this which affect all council members should be open to all council members, even those who prefer to remain silent/ignorant. Council membership should not be subdivided. On 06/04/16 18:56, Magdalena Turska wrote:

There's no intention to exclude, it just started out as folks who were
involved with the release talking about how to do it better next time. We
need Martin too, and I've asked him to chair the WG. Council is not going
to be left out of the loop on this, but if you all want to be copied in on
all the details, we can easily do that :-).

"if you all want to be copied in on all the details, we can easily do that " This sentence demonstrates exactly what makes me feel uneasy. Who is "you all" and who is "we"? I thought we had a single council, not an affiliation of special interest groups. On 06/04/16 19:10, Hugh Cayless wrote:

You all==the people on this list We==the working group I honestly don't see what's controversial here. The WG will come up with an implementation plan and report back to Council. We can't *just* discuss it on this list though, because Martin's not on it and his participation is crucial. If Council as a whole (you all) feel you need all the details, the WG can CC this list on its discussion. Sent from my phone.

I can't imagine we wouldn't be better off having you :-).
I was forced to learn sysadmin stuff fairly early on and it has served me
really well at times. Particularly in dealing with recalcitrant sysadmins.
