Has anyone actually received more than one piece of spam from a LISTSERV-hosted list? IIRC, LISTSERV has some sophisticated (for its day) algorithms to prevent a deluge. I'm happy to knock dirkschoenaers from the lists if it's a problem. Elli Mylonas is the other admin who could do so, and thus she is CCed here and I have not deleted the copy of the complete thread, below. Lou Burnard writes:
I received a bunch of spam from that address too, and blocked it. I think the TEI lists should do the same without compunction.

Syd has admin privileges on the lists hosted at Brown, though it's possible that some of them have co-administrators that I'm unaware of. I have long wanted to move these lists to lists.tei-c.org for shared administration like the others, but I'm still waiting on Syd to set up his RSA credentials with Ian so we can move forward with our migration plan.
He's a real person ( https://twitter.com/dirkschoenaers ), and in fact I received a couple of waves of spam like this from him, sent directly to me, weeks ago. I didn't bother reporting it to him since I figured everyone else would have done the same. But I also don't know that we can rule out his address book having been scraped and now being used to send by a machine out of his control.

This suggests that TEI lists are about to be deluged with spam: how do we remove dirkschoenaers address from the TEI-MS-SIG list (and also tell him -- he seems to be a real person, or at least a medievalist, but clearly his address has been hijacked) ?
