There was talk of moving the election cycle so candidates would know if
they'd been elected before the meeting, but that hasn't happened yet.
I'm of two minds: I don't think there'd be any harm in having an open or
semi-open Council meeting. As you all know, I'm in favor of allowing more
voluntary (if properly credited) participation anyway. On the other, we
might run into space constraints (I think we certainly would at the hotel)
and there might be issues with getting participants up to speed so they
could do helpful work. We'd also have to talk about what they'd be able to
do. I think it would be a good thing, but we'd need to do various things to
get set up for it, and do them quickly, including a call for participation.
What do you all think?

I guess you're right. I was thinking the results would be out by then. Candidates, then?

How will they know they are newly elected? Doesn't the announcement of the election results happen at the business meeting? (And the ballot stay open until shortly before?)

That's OK with me. I wonder if we could offer the option for newly-elected members to sit in if they're interested? People may already be there.

Dear all,
Any objections if our meeting happens on Sunday, Oct. 25, Monday, Oct. 26, and the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 28? Emmanuelle’s trying to make the schedule work out and Tuesday is currently crowded, but there’s a free room Wednesday morning.
Please let me know ASAP if this presents a problem.
Thanks, Hugh
