I was wondering the same. I'm using XXE with my students (not customized "personal" version), specially because, unlike XML Copy Editor, it runs in Macs. It's based on Java. It's good to have a free editor for beginners, who are not happy to pay for licenses to learn. Should we get involved and contact XML mind people?
