Thanks Syd. To clarify: the *only* circumstance I'd be able to come in person is if the treatment timeline gets moved up (possible, but not super likely. People tend not to cancel their cancer surgeries).

With my treasurer hat on: We have in the past covered folks who had to cancel an already-purchased flight, and I can't imagine we wouldn't do so again if necessary. If it's due to something like a quarantine or imposed travel restriction, then airlines are reasonably likely to be forgiving (though they will be a pain in the ass about documentation). As Syd says though, I would definitely not opt for the cheaper pre-paid hotel reservation.

We're still a couple of months out, so we may be past the period of large-scale quarantine measures by then.

Absolutely stay home, Hugh. Even with great prognoses, no one should

Indeed, COVID-19 (which my system's medical director is calling
"2019-nCoV") may put a damper on our upcoming F2F. I personally don't
think we should do anything differently for now, except:

 1) Council members may want to hold off on actually purchasing
    non-refundable flights or lodging for another few weeks;

 2) Peter should see if we can get a nice high-speed computer for
    Skyping people in at the venue.

Then in mid-March we should re-evaluate the situation.
